Patrick & Cristen’s iNsingizi Wedding
Patrick and Cristen tied the knot on a cold, rainy day at the gorgeous iNsingizi, a private game reserve set in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. This laid back lodge provided a stunning setting for their wedding. Christen and Patrick wanted a small, intimate wedding with personal touches and that is exactly what this was. They say rain is good luck on a wedding day so this couple is definitely off to a fabulous start! Thankfully the weather didn’t dampen the mood at all and we were able to go into the forests and capture some awesome moments with this fun bridal party. We braved the cold, raced against time and the fading light and managed to have lots of laughs and fun along the way.
These two are such a great match and it was so beautiful to see the love they have for each other. I’m reminded of the story they told me of their first date. They went out, had a great time, went home to their houses and and after a while decided “hang on, it’s early, lets go out again” and had a second date that SAME night! And why not!
Christen loves forests and there were touches of this throughout their wedding in the decor, the wedding cake and of course the forest photo shoot. Christen worked hard at planning a wedding that was unique to them and special. Her gran spent many hours sewing on hundreds of sparkly diamante to the wedding dress which made her dress all the more special when you think of the love that was poured into making it. The decor was planned by the bride and the cake was done by a family friend. All these things mean so much more when your loved ones have played a part in creating it. The gorgeous bouquets were done by Bloomin’ Bud.
I always like to think back on some special moments that happened during the wedding day and for me one of them was definitely Cristen walking down the isle with her mother by her side. Oh and of course a bride arriving in a convertible is always a “wow” moment! Similarly who can forget Patrick’s face when he turned around and saw his beautiful bride for the first time! Their opening dance was also a treat! They entered the reception and immediately danced a beautiful number before sitting down to enjoy the speeches and dinner…. Later on the dance floor was bursting with energy as people were learning to do the running-man and showing off their best moves! Just some of the reasons why I love my job! It never gets old.
Patrick and Cristen, thank you so much for choosing me to capture your special day! It was lovely getting to know you and your families and I wish you the most phenomenal time in your new Seychelles dream-come-true adventure!
