Brett and Andrea’s iNsingizi Wedding
If ever there was a bride who deserves a medal, a spa voucher, a million free gifts … I don’t know… a trip to Hawaii… it’s this bride. Girl you win the “Keep calm, I’m getting married and the minister isn’t here” award…And the groom too of course!
Sadly I don’t have a medal or a spa voucher or a Hawaii holiday to give you but I can use my words and this blog to tell you that you were absolutely amazing at rolling with the punches on your wedding day. Hours later and three ministers later, Andrea and Brett finally got to walk down the isle to start the rest of their lives together.
Sometimes one can get so caught up in the small stuff that you forget the most important moment of the wedding. The very reason you are all there… and that is to say “I do”. It’s about the vows and committing to spend the rest of your lives together. Its about friends and family WITNESSING this moment and then CELEBRATING this moment together. And celebrate they did! Steven Hayns from The Wedding DJ kept the guests entertained while we headed out into the misty fields for some photos. So when the team at iNsingizi heard that Andrea and Brett’s minister had an emergency, they quickly pulled out all the stops to find one of their local ministers to wed this lovely couple.
It didn’t all happen in the order that it was supposed to happen. But the essence of a wedding is after all not so much about the order of events. It’s about the act of tying the knot. So after we braved the cold, snuck in some fun photos and walked/danced in the rain, we spotted the long awaited car in the distance. To our delight it was the minister iNsingizi had organised! So off we raced back to the lodge to start the formalities!
Andrea grew up in South Africa. Little did she know that she would meet her husband at her work place while living in the United Kingdom. They decided to get married near Durban at iNsingizi, a farm with lovely forests, scenery and wildlife! They were surrounded by friends and family from near and far as they became Mr and Mrs and it was all smiles as Andrea walked down the isle in her gorgeous Rosella Gowns dress. And as the light faded and they said their vows, it was time to kick off the evening festivities with truly heart felt speeches from both young and old. Guests feasted on delicious, hearty food and partied into the night.
Brett and Andrea, I wish you so much happiness and joy in this new chapter of your lives. I loved getting to know you and your families and hope these photos bring smiles to your faces. All the best and thank you for choosing me to capture your special day!
