Lavash & Charvinia’s duBoirs Wedding

So when I met up with Lavash and Charvinia for the first time, I knew this was going to be a great wedding! Not only are they super fun to be around, but they are just the lovliest people and a dream to work with. Both have busy schedules and in the lead up to their wedding, they were juggling work, studies, planning a wedding and if I’m not mistaken they also moved house during that time? But these two engineers seemed to take it all in their stride.

In November we met up to take a few engagement photos in the uShaka area of our lovely city of Durban. A one hour shoot became a two hour shoot as I found more and more locations to shoot at. But Lavash & Charvinia were such sports and we laughed all the way through it that I think we all lost track of time! It was certainly good training for their wedding day which took place on a piping hot Durban day in 34 degree heat! Early in the morning Charvinia’s family welcomed me into their home which was bursting with activity and excitement. Within minutes I was offered chocolate cake and something to drink. The “getting ready” part of a wedding is one of my favourite parts to photograph. There is always so much fun and emotion. Of course I also get to see the glam squad doing their thing and in Charvinia’s case it was the talented Lauren Saul from Accentuate Hair and Make Up who did the make up. Keshini Moodley did a fab job on the hair.

These two tied the knot at du Boirs Wedding Venue which thankfully offered lots of shade for us to keep cool in during the photo shoot. It was a real treat working with the Orobella team who videoed this great occasion. What better way to end a shoot than to have a few scenic shots taken from a drone.

In a packed hall, Lavash and Charvinia started the rest of their lives together. The ceremony was filled with moments. A little smile or laugh was never far away. Beautiful speeches by the sisters followed the cake cutting and when all guests had enjoyed their lunch, they gathered outside to congratulate the newlyweds. I loved all the personal touches. There were cute biscuits with their initials on them. There was a photo wall covering the couples memories from teenie tots right up to their engagement shoot with me a few months ago. They even had jenga blocks the guests could write special messages on. Its things like this that make a wedding stand out for me. This, … as well as the lovely people I get to meet. I was received so warmly by both families that it was almost sad when the day was over and my work was done. Lavash and Charvinia you two are amazing! Thank you for choosing me to capture your day from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wish you tonnes of laughter and good times in your new life together! All the best!
