Stormy Karoo style wedding at the Glades

There are many things that come to mind as I play over the day’s events in my head…the fresh greenery of the gorgeous Bosch Hoek Golf estate where the wedding was to take place, the stunning St Annes Chappel, the completely to-die-for Karoo themed food, the lush aloes, the white king proteas & rustic styled table decor to name just a few… But by far the most memorable things about this wedding were not the way anything looked or tasted (and yes everything was amazing!!) It was something far more special than that… It was the community coming together, getting stuck in and pulling out ALL the stops to ensure this amazing couple still got the wedding they dreamed of.
Mother Nature sure had her own plans for this beautiful day… It was to be a day of gale force winds, sunshine, lightning, thunder and rain so hard it would interrupt the Karoo-Farmer-Groom’s speech! Early in the morning, the perfectly layed out marque started succumbing to the relentless force of the wind. No amount of man power was able to stop the winds from bringing the marque to the ground. But very quickly friends, family, neighbours and the community arrived with their bakkies, loaded up what they could & carted it to a near by venue. “The Glades” was to be the new location for the wedding reception. Within hours the whole wedding had moved from the collapsed marque to the beautiful Glades venue. This to me is such an example of community at its best!

Despite the changes, the wedding was absolutely gorgeous! The bride & groom were amazing! No one would have ever guessed what events unfolded the morning of the wedding.

Needless to say the day was filled with such emotion. The warmth & love of both families was so evident. The support for Jess & Brizzo was so evident. Everyone worked together and the end result was a festive, fun, happy, phenomenal celebration of Jess & Brizzo! While the storm went on outside, the friends & family danced and celebrated inside. Rain is good luck on your wedding day. But rain on a Karoo farmer’s wedding day is surely an excellent start to this chapter!

Thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer for this special occasion. The atmosphere at your wedding was truly something special! I wish you all the best!
